Our latest Aquascapes project at Beyond the Bay reflects this philosophy, a pondless waterfall and stream designed with natural resources and materials that honour the South West landscape, bringing serenity, movement, and balance to the property.

Designed to enhance the garden’s natural beauty and complement its ocean views, the stream acts as a peaceful focal point; softening the space, masking road noise, and creating a seamless connection between home and nature.

A Self-Sustaining System

Beneath the surface, the engineering is as refined as the aesthetics. Water flows downstream into 24 large Aquablox units, supported by an automatic top-up system and submersible pump that ensures continuous, efficient circulation. This closed-loop design minimises water loss and eliminates the need for manual refilling, offering a sustainable and low-maintenance feature that performs beautifully year-round.

Designed With Nature in Mind

The surrounding planting palette was curated to look and function like a living ecosystem. A balance of species was chosen across multiple zones, from marginal plants to textural groundcovers helping the stream remain clear and healthy while preventing algae buildup. Each plant plays a role in creating a thriving, self-sustaining environment that supports local biodiversity.

Interactive & Relaxing Spaces

Beyond its visual beauty, this natural stream encourages interaction and enjoyment. It serves as a welcoming entry for guests and even a playful area for the family’s dogs to explore. A seating nook beneath the gum tree offers a peaceful retreat to sit and take in the gentle sounds of flowing water, the movement of wildlife, or the energy from the nearby tennis court.
