When people first contact us about a natural stream, pond or natural swimming pool, they are often excited by what is possible, but unsure about what happens next. How do we turn a collection of ideas into a living water system that feels natural, functions beautifully and belongs in the landscape?
At Wellgevity Landscapes, every Aquascape project begins with a conversation. From the first discussion through to construction and ongoing care, our process is designed to give you clarity, confidence and the space to make informed decisions. Your journey can be tailored to suit the scale of the project, your property, your priorities and your budget; from a small water feature that brings the calming sound of flowing water closer to the garden or home, through to large swimmable natural pools.
01. FREE DISCOVERY CALL
Every new enquiry begins with a scheduled 15-minute discovery call with Jake. This is a free, obligation-free conversation where we learn about your goals, the kind of water experience you are imagining and the broader landscape around it. We will explain how we work, answer your initial questions and decide together whether Wellgevity is the right fit for your project.
What Helps: Share your location, a few photographs, the approximate area and any early thoughts about how you would like to use the space.
02. ON-SITE DISCOVERY CONSULTATION
The next step is to meet on the ground at your property. Jake will walk through your garden with you, looking at the site as a whole: its levels, access, soil, existing vegetation, views, movement, microclimate and relationship to the home. Just as importantly, we will talk about how you want the space to feel and how it needs to work for your lifestyle and budget.
Experience behind the advice: With more than 20 years in horticulture and landscaping, Jake brings a practical understanding of construction, planting and naturalistic aquascape design. This early guidance can help you avoid costly missteps by identifying what may be needed before design or construction begins.
03. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
This is where vision meets creativity. We translate the ideas gathered during discovery into a concept that reflects your lifestyle, personality and the natural rhythm of the property. The design considers the shape and movement of the water, viewpoints, circulation, planting, rock placement, materials and how the aquascape connects with the wider garden.
For natural swimming pools: Design development may include 2D working drawings and 3D visualisation, followed by site-specific geotechnical investigation, structural engineering and the relevant shire or council approval process.
04. QUOTATION AND PROJECT PLANNING
Once the design direction is resolved, we move into detailed quoting and project planning. We refine the practical details, confirm the resources and materials required, and ensure the scope aligns with your goals and budget.
Our approach: Transparent pricing and a clearly defined scope create a smooth transition from concept to construction, with fewer surprises and greater confidence in what comes next.
05. CONSTRUCTION
With the concept and scope finalised, our team begins bringing the design to life on site. Each stage is delivered with care, precision and craftsmanship; from earthworks and shaping to hydraulic systems, rock placement, planting and finishing details.
During the build: We keep communication clear, manage the sequence of works and make considered refinements as the landscape reveals itself.
06. CLIENT HANDOVER
When construction is complete, we walk you through the finished aquascape and explain how the system operates. You will learn the essentials of seasonal care, water levels, pumps and filtration, planting establishment and what to expect as the new ecosystem settles in.
Handover is also our opportunity to answer questions and make sure you feel comfortable living with and caring for the new landscape.
07. GARDEN AND AQUASCAPES MAINTENANCE
An Aquascape project is a living system, and its character develops over time. Ongoing maintenance can be tailored to the garden and water feature, helping plants establish, systems perform as intended and the landscape mature gracefully.
Whether you need seasonal support or a more regular care program, we can help protect the long-term health and beauty of the space.
